This is an authentic 19th century Hand Carved Arm Chair attributed to the great Luigi Frullini (Italian, 1839 - 1897). This is an Italian Renaissance style figural arm chair which consists of a massive one piece back, including the arms. Entirely hand carved with an assortment of fantasy figures that includes dragons, gargoyles, and mermaids, as well as a nice selection of decorative scrolls, feathers and acanthus leaves. The seat is upholstered with a peach colored velvet material. The bottom support structure, including the legs, the x-cross brace, and the apron are all hand carved as well. The legs each have a fascinating carved face, and there's a gargoyle with goats ears prominently featured in the center of the apron. The wood used in construction of the chair is walnut, and it practically glows with a dark, rich patina.
